SmartBoost Objectives and Reporting

SmartBoost is Lumanu’s automated ad-buying software for Instagram and Facebook that streamlines the tedious and error-prone process of creating influencer ad campaigns in Facebook's Ads Manager. Once a campaign is created, SmartBoost auto-optimizes using Facebook Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) to deliver the best top-of-funnel campaigns for your influencer content.

In conjunction with CBO, SmartBoost analyzes the reach and engagement metrics for all pieces of content in a campaign to learn which pieces are the top performers. SmartBoost allocates budget to the top-performing piece(s) of content, ensuring the best piece of content wins each time.

SmartBoost Objectives:

Reach: Show your ad to the maximum number of people. Facebook will maximize reach and impressions while minimizing CPM.

Engagement: Designed to get more people to see and engage with your Facebook post or Page. This objective does not support Instagram Carousels, Instagram Stories, and Facebook posts with multiple images

Link Click: Get more people to click on your content. Facebook will optimize for lowest cost-per-link-click.

Brand Awareness: Use Brand Awareness objective as an alternate to the Engagement objective for supporting Instagram Carousels, Instagram Stories, and Facebook posts with multiple images.

SmartBoost Reporting - Definitions/Calculations:

Impressions: The number of times your ads were on screen. More information can be found on Facebook here

CPM: Cost per 1,000 impressions. (campaign spend / impressions) x 1,000).

More information can be found on Facebook here

Frequency: The average number of times each person saw your ad. (impressions / reach) More information can be found on Facebook here

Reach: The number of people who saw your ads at least once. Reach is different from impressions, which may include multiple views of your ads by the same people.

Example of how campaign reach is calculated by Facebook:

Campaign A is comprised of 3 ads

Ad1 total reach: (4) - 4 people who have never seen an ad from Campaign A -  Anna, Beth, Cindy and Diane

Ad2 total reach: (4) - 4 separate people who have never seen an ad from Campaign A - Elaine, Fiona, Geri, and Hannah

Ad3 total reach: (3) - includes 2 people who already saw Ad 1 (Anna and Beth) and one new person, Irene

Campaign A - Total Reach: 9

Note that the reach at the ad level is always greater than the reach at the campaign level. Again, reach = the amount of times a person is exposed to an ad ONCE.  The campaign reporting takes into account a person who was exposed to more than one ad in a campaign. More information can be found on Facebook here

UCPM
: Cost per thousand people reached. (campaign spend / reach) x 1,000)

Engagement: The total number of actions that people take involving your ads, which can include actions such as reacting to, commenting on or sharing the ad, claiming an offer, viewing a photo or video, or clicking on a link. More information can be found on Facebook here.

For Instagram Story content below is what counts as an engagement:

Instagram Story Organic Engagement: Counts replies only

Instagram Story Paid Engagement: Counts 3-sec video views and swipe ups (NOT replies)

CPE: Cost per post engagement. (total amount spent / post engagements).
More information can be found on Facebook here.

ER: Engagement Rate. (engagement / impressions)

Link Clicks: The number of clicks on links within the ad that led to destinations or experiences, on or off Facebook. For ads promoting Instagram profile views, link clicks include clicks on the ad header or comments that led to the advertiser's profile. More information can be found on Facebook here.

CPC: Cost per click or average cost for each link click. (total amount spent / link clicks) More information can be found on Facebook here.

CTR: Click-through rate. The percentage of times people saw your ad and performed a link click. (total clicks / impressions) x 100) More information can be found on Facebook here.
